According to the telecoms regulator Ofcom, EE, BT and TalkTalk are the worst performing broadband providers for customer service.

All three received the most complaints of any major broadband supplier between January and March 2016, followed closely by Plusnet.

Three of the four worst are BT Group businesses

EE’s and BT’s complaint numbers were nearly double the industry average. BT’s Trustpilot score of just 0.4 out of 10 reflects this ongoing problem with customer service – and the irony that BT has bought EE will not be lost on angry customers. That’s not forgetting that Plusnet is also owned by BT, meaning three of the four worst offenders are BT Group businesses.

The stats revealed that complaints across the entire industry remain at a similar level to the previous year. Ofcom hopes these stats will help to encourage consumers to shop around for a better deal – and to factor in service when making their choice.

It also hopes that this transparency will ultimately force providers to improve their service levels.
